Staff at Seaford Head Community College were delighted at the results achieved by the last group of students to study GCE subjects only for the immediate future. As results were issued on Thursday 20th August there were congratulations as 95.8% of students achieved grades A – E with 52% achieving grades A or B, an improvement from 31% last year.
The highest performing subjects this year were Religious Studies, with all students gaining A grades and Biology followed closely by Maths, English and Business Studies. The BTEC Sport course has also proved 100% successful with 2 students; Kerrie Aukett and Luke Macinnes; being awarded a double distinction in the National Award which is equivalent to 3 grade As.
Other outstanding individual performances include Henry Charlesworth who achieved As in History, Maths and Physics and will take up his place to read Physics at University College, London. Erin Doherty will study medicine at Brighton and Sussex Medical School after achieving As in Biology, Chemistry and PE. Catherine Linsell will read History at Leeds University following 3 grade As in Biology, History and RE and Ben Prichard, who also achieved 3 grade As in Biology, Business Studies and Maths, will study Business Administration at the University of Bath.
A group of year 11 students successfully completed AS Critical Thinking as part of their Key Stage 4 studies with all students achieving pass grades of which 72.7% were grade C or above.
